Having tried a variety of aftermarket ear tips both foam and silicon for the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds, to my ears there’s nothing that quite matches the Sony foam originals in terms of sound signature and noise isolation.
However there’s a downside and it’s a biggie, price and durability. If paying a premium for original ear tips upwards of three times as much as a decent alternative then you'd want them to last. Mileage may vary according to use but the simple fact is that foam tips are nowhere near as durable as silicon tips and these things can degrade fast. Replacement on a regular basis might not be tenable.
That being said if you must have the absolute best all round experience you will need a pair of NI1000s. In many countries, these are hard to come by and in my case had to opt for international delivery. MTMT Audio delivered the genuine article and ahead of schedule, so credit where it’s due and for their part, full marks to MTMT Audio.
